Who We Are
Skavenger.co.uk is a personal and community website operated by Richard Wall, based in Carmarthen, Wales. The site hosts a private community of friends and gamers (“The Neuadd”), game servers, media services, and community tools.
This is a non-commercial, hobby project. We do not sell products, run advertising, or monetise visitor data in any way.
What Data We Collect
We collect only the minimum data required to run the site and its services:
- Server access logs - Your IP address, browser user-agent, referring URL, and the pages you request are recorded by our web server (Apache). These logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes, then automatically deleted.
- Game server logs (CS:S HLstatsX) - If you connect to our Counter-Strike: Source server, your Steam ID, IP address, in-game name, and game actions (kills, deaths, etc.) are logged by our HLstatsX:CE stats system. This data is used solely to compute in-game statistics displayed on css.skavenger.co.uk.
- Gallery uploads - Photos submitted via Discord to the site gallery are stored on our server. They include the image file and any caption provided at time of submission. Only community members with the Gallery Editor Discord role may upload.
- Cookies - The Concrete5 CMS sets a session cookie when you are logged in as an admin. No tracking cookies are set for regular visitors.
We do not collect:
- Email addresses or registration details from general visitors
- Payment information (no e-commerce on this site)
- Location data beyond what is inherent in an IP address
- Data for advertising or marketing purposes
How We Use Your Data
- To operate and maintain the website and game servers
- To display game statistics to the community
- To diagnose technical problems and prevent abuse
- To display gallery photos on community pages
We do not use your data for profiling, automated decision-making, or targeted advertising.
Third-Party Services
The site integrates with or links to the following external services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Discord - Community hub. Data processed under Discord’s Privacy Policy.
- Steam (Valve) - Game server connections. Steam IDs are logged by HLstatsX. See Steam Privacy Policy.
- Font Awesome - Icon fonts loaded from the Font Awesome CDN. May log requests per their privacy policy.
- Google Fonts / CDN assets - If loaded externally, subject to respective provider policies.
We have no control over the data practices of these third parties.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except where required by law (e.g. a valid court order or legal obligation under UK law).
Data Retention
- Web server logs - Up to 30 days, then deleted.
- Game server stats - Retained indefinitely as part of the community stats archive. Contact us to request removal of specific Steam ID data.
- Gallery photos - Retained until removed by the uploader or a site admin via the gallery management tools.
Your Rights (UK GDPR)
If you are based in the UK or EU, you have the right to:
- Access - Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification - Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure - Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations).
- Restriction - Ask us to limit how we process your data.
- Portability - Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection - Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe your data has not been handled correctly.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. API endpoints that accept uploads are protected with secret-key authentication. Sensitive configuration files are stored outside the web root. No payment or financial data is stored on our servers.
While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it via our contact page.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Significant changes will be announced in the community Discord server.
